HAVE A PROFESSIONAL LINE YOU UP WITH A FURNACE FILTER THAT PERFORMS
When hiring a professional air duct cleaning company ask them about furnace filter recommendations. See if they are able to explain the ASHRAE Merv rating scale to you. See if they are capable of determining the best filter for your furnace without offsetting the manufacturers recommended temperature rise range of your furnace as a Lucky Duct technician is able to do for you. Keep in mind that Lucky Duct technicians are equipped with expensive digital testing tools to do this for you at no additional charge in the field during an air duct cleaning. These tests cannot be performed over the phone. Temperature rise is important because a furnace that is "out of range" can in fact contribute to the reduction of the life expectancy of your furnace heat exchanger. A heat exchanger is typically the most expensive part of your furnace, so this simple detail can be very important. If the other company struggles in answering simple filtration questions, then maybe it would be wise to consider another firm. This truly is the difference between Lucky Duct and other air duct cleaning companies. Don't trust your HVAC system cleaning to be performed by under trained personnel or carpet cleaners, trust Lucky Duct who fields actual HVAC service technicians to perform an HVAC system cleaning in your home. You can rest assure that your Lucky Duct service technician will line you up with the best filter with out creating harm on your furnace or air handler when you schedule an air duct cleaning today! Through knowledge, Lucky Duct creates incredible value for each and every one of our valued customers.
Poly (fiber glass) furnace filter. Did you know that a typical fiber glass disposable filter is effective at catching only 7% of particulate matter passing through the air stream at 10 Microns? With out an in the field consultation / testing we are confident to inform our valued customer that they can probably do better than a Poly filter, guaranteed! Performing some simple tests will allow for us to determine the best filter for your furnace and of coarse this service is just part of our quoted residential base price.
The ASHRAE created MERV rating scale ranges from 1-20. The higher the MERV number, the better job the filter does in catching particulate matter. Very often these filters create a lot of problems with many heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Sometimes they may be viable to use, however more commonly on many systems in most homes they create more problems than not. Only by testing would anybody know.
Electrostatic furnace filter. These furnace filters can cause a lot of problems with the performance of your heating and cooling systems, especially if they are not constantly cleaned every month, which most people won't do. Sometimes the pressure drop created by these filters are so severe that even a new one fresh out of the wrapping causes problems. Only through testing would anybody know. Purchasing a central whole home humidifier can provide incredible relief while indoors for people who suffer from respiratory ailments, allergies and immunity deficiencies by reducing the airborne substances and allergens that they are sensitive to. According to the results from the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 54.3% of the US population had positive test responses to 1 or more allergens.
Although many of us deal with indoor mold contamination on almost a day-to-day basis, it is important to put things into perspective. Molds are not the only things that cause and or/exacerbate allergies and asthma, and typically those who are allergic to mold also suffer from allergies to animals and pollen, to name a few.

The Aprilaire Model 5000
Air Cleaner has been rated #1 three years running by a leading products
ratings magazine for some very good reasons: It electronically charges
particles and traps them like a magnet better than any other air cleaner
- using 72 square feet of Aprilaire-branded filtering media. The Model
5000 is tried, true, and tested - delivering the highest efficiency possible.
Installed by your HVAC professional as part of your central heating and cooling system, the Aprilaire Model 5000 Electronic Air Cleaner can help give you the cleanest, healthiest air in every room of your home.
“Three most important methods of improving indoor air quality are source removal, air cleaning and increased ventilation.”
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
How Does It Work?
Through patented technology, particles entering the air cleaner pass through a control electrode, which focuses and intensifies an electrical field generated by ionizing wires. The particles are charged in the electrical field and then collected on grounded micro-fiber media. There is no monthly cleaning of collector plates like with other types of electronic air cleaners, in fact, the Model 5000’s media needs to be changed only once a year.
Fact: Home's today are being built or remodeled with more weather stripping, caulking and insulation becoming both tighter and more energy efficient in the process. The problem? More contaminants are becoming trapped inside our homes. The air we breathe indoors can be loaded with pollutants like respirable dust, pet dander, dust mites, mold spores, bacteria, viruses and more that aren't finding their way out through cracks or air leaks in the home. With estimates that a typical person spends 90% of their time indoors and takes up to 20,000 breaths every day - you want to be breathing the cleanest air possible.
